Valley Junction

On my recent trip to Iowa, I wanted to check out some beads shops at Valley Junction in West Des Moines which is only about 6 miles from the airport in Des Moines. A quaint area with lots of unique and specialty shops, there were three... count'em, three beads shops within walking distance of each other!

Each one was unique in their offerings. Artistic beads had a great variety of Czech glass, seed beads and findings, Eyebeads had an outstanding amount of the most gorgeous gemstones you ever laid eyes on and Fishlips3 (don't ya' love that name?) had an eclectic mix cloisonne, cinnabar, gemstones and lampwork.

The choices were indeed difficult to make, so below is just a small sample of each shop.

Evidently I couldn't even wait until I had photos taken before started working on jewelry!

Be sure to set aside plenty of time in your schedule if you go beading in Valley Junction!
P.S. There's a great little restaurant that sells soup and sandwiches for lunch. I can't remember the name of it, but you'll know it because it looks like an old fashioned store inside.

So here are the goodies from all of those bead stores you mentioned! I like how you remembered to get the cards and grouped them in a photo...never know when you'll need that info again. There's something to be said about buying beads in person. I absolutely love your groupings and would have picked many of the same beads myself! And just look at your new jewelry pieces...gorgeous! Especially love that first dangle/charm bracelet!
